FEATURE: Magic - A Matt Sconce Film

Yep, our script is our Star and what we are using to pursue both avenues you mentioned. We are pursuing investment so we can choose our cast and we are pursuing loi's from A list talent so we can land investment. Both ways will work and we will see which one happens first. Definitely exciting times that require patience as well as determination and a very strong confidence in the script and project as a whole. We have found so far that our excitement plus a powerful script get others excited to be a part of this. I am certain we will find either investors or A list talent who share the excitement soon.

I just saw the nearly complete teaser trailer for MAGIC. It hooked me emotionally. The VFX from LionVFX (Zombieland) is right on and Matt as usual has a powerful edit that well, really teases! I want to see the whole film now...

Matt and I are going to be in a production meeting tomorrow morning. After that, I am finishing the build plans for the rest of the sets so we can build a construction materials list for Kerner's sound stage guys. After the production stuff tomorrow morning, Matt is finalizing the teaser trailer with the inclusion of the sound design from Kunal.

I am very excited! More later... :engel017: Gary

Gary, you're the production designer on the project? I'm wondering what the VFX shots are for. I thought Matt said all tricks in the movie will be practical effects.

VFX are for the tanker truck explosion in the movie. Many moments in the movie will need VFX because movies do. Just the magic elements will not.

I am excited to get the sound tomorrow and finish this thing up! Onward and Upward!

What I'll probably end up doing with my production is to cast at least one name actor BEFORE getting the whole budget together (Corrado-style). Raise enough financing to pay to the biggest actor, then use his name to raise the rest. Just a tip.
We are putting the base numbers of the budget together, leaving the Actor area fluid so it can change. Think of it as the numbers of the budget that would not change being like the base of a multi-tiered cake. We are not asking for a specific amount for the top layer of the cake until we get Alist actor quotes from the actors we are going for. :)

Another quote that keeps me going.

‎'Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.' ~ Mark Twain

That is a great quote. How encouraging. I have faced many who, due to insecurity or jealousy, think they have to negatively critique every little thing. Personally I would rather leave a trail of joy behind me in my life and spend my time boosting the hopes and dreams of others. It costs so little to be kind. :engel017:

I liked the visuals very, very much, huge step forward for you guys! In case I've missed something, what software did you use to make those "title cards"?
Thanks! We are excited! Regarding the title cards, I used After effects CS4 to make them. Best, Matt :)

I am very pleased with the great feedback we are getting all over the web from the MAGIC teaser trailer release tonight. Thanks for the kind words and for the encouragement. The VFX is a huge step forward, and shooting in 3D will also be very big. We hope to be the first movie about magic that uses 3D to take the audience actually into the magic tricks as if they were really there seeing it for themselves. :engel017:

Magnificent teaser. It's got me pumped. Very professional from start (helicopter over the river) to finish (explosion and HannaH crying). Everything looked great.

To be honest, I was expecting the title cards towards the end to say "This year/The world will believe/There/Is/Magic" instead of "hope", but I'm guessing hope is the main theme in the film. It just threw me for a second because it wasn't what I was expecting.

Congratulations on completing the teaser. And good luck with the rest of the process. I can't wait to keep up to date along your journey.

Thanks so much! I hope investors get pumped as well and want to read the script cover to cover. That is the intent of the teaser. We want to get people who are interested in financing the film to delve into the screenplay and package of the film, amidst their busy schedules, and get hooked by the story we know and love. It also helps show HannaH a bit, and she is a great little actress! We will see where this goes, but it is going to be an exciting ride! :) -Matt
