Made with a Mac

Re: Made with a Mac

Unfortunately the whole "made with a mac" mentality translates into the jobs being advertised.

It's typical to see a job posted for people looking for editors with FCP.

People equate the program as being a measure whether a person is a good editor, rather than putting an ad up looking for talented editors.

Someone definitely needs to spoof that marketing concept.

EDIT: Typed on a Sager 3.0 ghz Laptop.

Re: Made with a Mac

We PC users snicker because the whole "Made with a Mac" bit is hard-coded in the template the person used to design the page. Apple wants you to use only their special hardware and special software, and use your website to proclaim their ability to play ball.

I never thought it was cool to put a Ford sticker on your Ford truck. I'll always make fun of self-congratulatory, brand-loving elitism. Unless, of course, it's in support of the open source community.

Re: Made with a Mac

Made with a Mac just means that these people are individual freethinkers - everyone else is a mindless drone.

Despite Apple's full-frontal marketing attack against my generation through our public school system, I somehow escaped to become a creative PC user.

Every time I go into my daughter's kindergarten class, where there are six new iMacs and another forty in the computer lab, I wonder if she will function in the real world where other systems reign supreme.

Have you ever scrolled to the botton of DVXuser.com? Here's what it says... "DVXuser.com » Powered by YaBB 1 Gold - SP 1.3.1! YaBB © 2000-2003. All Rights Reserved.".

They do, but YaBB is software, and all YaBB boards look largely alike. There's a specific YaBB quality to things.

Re: Made with a Mac

Point is, Apple is not the only company blowing their own horn and you need look no further than the bottom of the page you are reading to see that.

Re: Made with a Mac

I concur.

(Written by PK, who has bound and gagged TC in the basement of his home in order to "reign supreme.")

(Look out Hudson, I'm coming for you next. Then Terry and David.)

Re: Made with a Mac

The difference is, Panavision has (and has had) a logo clause in their rental contract for any feature lensing with their cameras and YaBB's disclaimer is embedded into the product itself. Removing this tag violates the EULA.

The websites we're talking about have a prominently displayed .JPEG or .GIF logo which is placed to denote the creator's place in the online content caste system.

I am only a PC using serf, so what do I know?

Maybe it wasn't the best analogy. However, to get bogged down in your specificity, is to miss the larger point that other companies and/or organizations do promote their products/services in a similar manner.  :)

Please do not report this post to EULA. I lie in fear in my bed at night that I might slip up and violate the EULA.  :P  ;) :)
