Machete.

Saw Machete and I loved it! I'm a fan of Robert Rodriguez though-Have enjoyed everything he's done except for "Shorts" and "Sharkboy and Lava Girl."

Anyone know what Machete was shot on? Imdb doesn't say and I can't find any technical specs anywhere else-I know he tends to shoot on digital cameras.

Here's some behind the scenes footage - not sure what cameras we're looking at here.
Looks like maybe some of it was a Sony F950 (just a guess)? Some 35mm in there as well:

Yeah, most was prob shot on the F950. I read an interview somewhere and said he owns two of them.

I'm going to preface this review by saying about midway through this slaughterfest, I realized I'm losing my taste for blood, gore and ultraviolence. It just doesn't excite me the way it used to, in fact, it often makes me sad...With that out of the way, the parts of this movie I enjoyed weren't the violent parts. I felt the immigration satire was actually pretty sharp and funny. I felt the mid section of the film was fun and felt like it was building to something interesting, unfortunately that went out the window with the ludicrous third act. They pretty much lost sight of Machetes character by this point and crowded the screen with too many people, and any enjoyment I would have gotten out of Machete was ruined by...

Spoiler alert

...Steven Seagal's ridiculous death scene. I think the movie would have been better if they kept the focus more on Machete. Danny Trejo is a strong enough presence and more capable an actor than they let him be. Final note, Michelle Rodriguez has rarely looked this hot.

I had my kids today and could not check it out. But it doesn't seem like you hated it.

I went on my bday. I went knowing I wanted to see a fun stupid movie. It definitely fit the bill. I do agree that this film could have been much better had RR given Trejo a chance to act more and develope. Now Alba is hot, but her acting is horrible, I'd say that was the worse part. Other than that though, this was very fun to watch, very hilarious parts. The look and shooting style was very good. The artificial special effects were made to look artificial, this was a little dissapointing. It's funny how those same effects looked so much better in Sin City. All in all it was fun and had an interesting political message.

Saw it yesterday with a buddy... we were laughing or grimacing the whole time! One of RR's better original screenplays actually. Pretty obvious political message packed in there, but super fun and entertaining!

Saw it tonight and enjoyed it. Had a few good laughs.

I really liked the titles of the next two upcoming movies at the end.

Saw it Saturday. Great fun. Exactly what I expected.

Although walking out of the theater I suddenly realized that I could just as easily have enjoyed I Spit on Your Grave or Sweet Sweetback's Badass Song or maybe Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! and Robert Rodriguez could have applied his considerable talents to creating something a bit more distinctive and a bit less homag-ey/camp for the sake of homage-ey/camp-ness..

...then again Jessica Alba nudity buys a large measure of my indulgence...

We need a 'fingers in my ears la-la-la-I-can't-hear-you' smiley.

Although it kind of raises an interesting question for our members who reject nudity in films: does the fact that no *real* nudity existed on set influence one's response to the *apparent* nudity visible in the final product?

'It was revealed in an article she wore panties and a bra and they painted them out digitally. ' That bastard. I'm gonna kick RR in the balls the next time I see him (just kidding).

It's revealed towards the end of this piece--
