It was deleted by the original poster, and the comment beside it says "waiting for tests". So it would appear that Macgregor wants to be certain of the facts before posting theories, to be sure that the facts bear out his theories.
It was an interesting thread with curious findings though. Can an original poster delete a thread already open before? I thought only threads against the rules might be deleted. If not, there would be a lot of threads subject to be deleted. The trial and error method makes part of life.
Yeah, i´d rather have more time for tests before going on with the thread. Isaac says he is getting great results with his caprock so i want to try the 1.4 and play a bit more with the 7D before speculating any further.
Mac definitely try the Caprock 2.0 with the 7D. I would be very surprised if I'm getting one of a kind results. It's working for me on three different prime lenses and my zoom.
The 1.4 might be better suited for the 5D, on the 7D the 1.4 was too strong and blurred the image past what I thought was an acceptable amount. If the 5D is that much sharper then the 7D then perhaps the 1.4 might hit the sweet spot. Let us know.
Alan Schwartz from Caprock has a 1.4 on it's way to me here in Paris. I will test it with the 5D. We already know the 2.0 doesn't do anything and the 1.0 blurs everything too much but is passable if one adds a lot of sharpening in post. So the 1.4 looks like it might be right for the 5D.
I found that even the 1.4 is not strong enough for the majority of focal lengths for the 5D. It softens the image with a 35mm lens for instance, but does not get rid of entirely the moire..
