MacBook Pro

OS 10.5 is in the works, but I think it's still some time in coming. Apple said about a year or so ago that they were going to slow down release of new operating systems. That said, I think they said that before they knew they were switching to Intel. Tiger (10.4) is only about 6-7 months old.

EDIT: I should add: You said "update to Mac OSX" ... does that mean you're still on OS... (shudder) 9?

Well, yes and no. My laptop is on Mac OS X 10, not 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, or 10.4, just the first iteration of Mac OS X and it's on dual boot with Mac OS 9. Yeah, I'd like to just upgrade the thing to Mac OS X Tiger so I can have better functionality and so I can get iLife and put iMovie HD on there, though I know it will be really slow on 550mhz. Plus I've got to max out the RAM to 1gb PC100 SDRAM, PC133 not supported. Yeah, it's old, but it has served me well and it can still help out a little if I upgrade it. At least as an edit station on the go and/or music creation setup.

Hold up everybody, where does it say that you can install Windows XP? I can't find it on the Apple website. I've read all the stuff on the Intel switch and it says that Windows XP will "probably" be hacked to work on there by some hackers eventually, but that there were no plans for Windows XP/Mac OS functionality from Apple. I think you guys may have heard wrong unless it says it somewhere on the Apple site.

So you are waiting for the HVX200a ????

No, sorry -- I was referring specifically to computer products. Sometimes I forget that you people can't read my mind. Seriously, you all should work on that.

I agree. Unless there is an over riding need for the new product, why pay the price to be their "beta" testers?

Firstly - 10.0??!!!! Wow!!! Please upgrade to Tiger immediately - it'll fly on that machine compared to 10.0!!

Seriously though, each new major release of OSX is faster than the previous on the same hardware. I remember trying to use 10.0 and HATING EVERY MINUTE OF IT. And I really wanted to love OSX back then, but until 10.1 came out, OSX was kinda useless to me.

Secondly - These Intel Macs will eventually boot Windows. Right now, Windows XP requires BIOS to boot, and the Intel Macs use the newer Intel boot system - EFI. XP 64 bit addition uses EFI, but since the new Macs don't use 64bit Intel chips XP 64 won't boot... Until Microsoft releases an EFI booting version of XP 32bit or some hacker does it, Windows won't boot on these new macs.

I understood you were refering to computers but you put it like a general statement.
