macbook pro can not see hvx via usb

Hi there

Im new to the hvx and I have searched and now pulling my hair out. My HVX202 plugged into my MacBook Pro 17" 2.8Ghz, 4GB Ram, 10.6 via USB does not show up anywhere. I have P2CMS and FCP7.

Can someone please advise if this is not possible or if I have a faulty camera. Or do I need a Firewire 4 pin to firewire 800. All info I can find skips this info.

Thanks

Thanks. Like I said Im so new I didnt realise I had to hold the vcr button down for a few seconds to load. Unusual feature Ive never come across before on another camera. Being 2nd hand I thought it may be faulty.
Thanks I will read the link. I Appreciate your speedy help

:)

Yea, there are a few unusual things to it but it all makes sense once you dive into it. Best of luck!

Just a reminder that the manual contains all this information in pretty good detail.

Also, didn't Barry Green's book comes as well with the cam?

Always good to at least check there first.

Glad you have it working, and remember to write protect the card first.

USB connection is notoriously unreliable on the mac with the HVX. Use firewire to avoid any issues.

ive had 2 different hvx/hpx cams and 2 different desktop macs. and its always been a hit or miss connecting via firewire for transferring. usb has worked first time, every time

thanks everyone for the info.
Well im going to make sure i always have both a usb anf a fw in my kit for when macbook pro has a data tantrum

I only have Barrys book (which is great, but in my hurry I overlooked the extended press of the button) , being a 2nd hand purchase i didnt get the manual included.... (it happens) :)

thanks again for all your advice.
