Mac P2 Viewer?

I remember reading a post from Jan about a "surprise" at NAB. It was posted in a thread about the need for a P2 viewer for us Mac people (it may have been on another site). Does anyone know what happened with this surprise? Did I miss it? If not, where can I get it?

but the P2 Logger will allow you to see your footage on site, as long as FCP is on the same computer.

Good Luck,

Jan

If you have to have FCP on the computer, then what is the advantage of spending $199 for the P2 Log? If you have FCP you can just import it and view it there!

Actually it is $99 and the importing to FCP is much slower and you really need to transfer to an HDD before you import to FCP.

Best,

Jan

Oh, I just found they have a $100 off special on the website, thanks.
Anyway, will this become obselete when Apple incorporates MXF support within FCP?
Maybe the next upgrade version of FCP?

p2 Log is a database apps as well.

It does a bunch of things.

There is no information on when and if Apple will do anything insofar as MXF is concerned.

And MXF support in the FCP App is not the same thing as a viewer, it only means they won't throw away the MetaData once it hits the time line. So two different purposes here. And no, i do not know if and when Apple will be in the MXF ball game.

I think Jan knows more than she says...
Even Panasonic must have learned to lobby. It's a big mistake to sell a HVX without Mac software, and they know that.

Ozduc, where did you see $100 off on the website? I can't find that and I see that the P2 Log for Mac is $199.
