(MAC)Off load cards through camera or SD card reader?

Hello,

Do you guys off load your clips by connecting the camera to your Mac or through a card reader?? I have been doing it through a card reader but I have this problem every now and then when transferring that says "You do not have enough permissions to do this" and it wont let me copy the AVCHD file out of the card. I restart the computer then it lets me do it. Any have this problem? Am i doing something wrong? thanks
 
Are you reformatting your card before you shoot? Also, what cards are you using? Sounds like it's having trouble mounting the card.

I use a card reader as well and haven't had any problems with the transfer other than audio for the 720/24p transcoding on both toast and FCP.

Same problem here, but i think i know whats the problem, Have you notice if the problem only happen when you are transfering file that are 3.99gig. I can transfert a full 16 gig card without problem with my card reader, but if I have a file that have been splited in two (so one file is 4gig and the other one is less) this message popup and wont let me copy the big file. Its look like that the crd reader dont like big file. So now Iam using my camera only to transfert the footage when I had recorded a big file. Maybe one day will buy a better card reader.
