Ok. Long time mac guy so you windows people help me out. The thread about using a pc for downloading p2 cards led be to buy my first pc. I've been using the duel adapator with a powerbook and no problems but want to set this laptop up as a backup solution. Not exactly intuitive to load this driver, or to know which to use at a poorly translated Panasonic site, but I downloaded the win32_p2driver_v209 for 32 bit system (after choosing 64 bit with no success) and installed it (I think) on this new laptop that came with Vista home edition.
After the restart, computer asks for disk that came with "your mass storage controller". Well, I 've got the cd of "utility software" P2hd that came with my hpx170. But it didn't seem to want that. Says maybe go to website and download what I need. Yea, that's want I thought I did.
I insert a P2 card and I do see the P2 icon on my desktop. Clicking it brings up a small window called p2 card manager with headings called Drive, Serial # Card Name Firware ver.. So where are the video files? On my mac I'm using the p2 software that brings up the thumbnails etc an I have been exporting with no problems.
I think it would be great if someone would put together a step by step instruction for loading and using p2 on a PC for people like me that have little pc experience. If you do this, maybe have a mac guy at your elbow to ask the right questions for things that may seem obvious to you.
