It's going to be clear here. The only clear night of the forseeable future. Guess I lucked out there.
I'm going to shoot this thing and do a timelapse but here's the problem. The whole eclipse is going to last about an hour and a half. The moon will easily move out of my frame multiple times during this process. I don't want to shoot too wide because I won't get the detail I am looking for (I'm shooting with the 1.6x teleconverter).
It's going to look silly to keep reframing it, particularly with a timelapse....what to do?
Try to find if a local astronomy club has a viewing session(most do on events like that). Someone might have one of those fancy motor-driven telescopes - maybe the'll let you attach the DVX to it. You'd have the moon in the same spot in the frame for the whole time.
Oh, I forgot to mention - you may want to create a mask with a round cutout and put it over your EVF display for easier re-framing. It WOULD be silly, but at least you'd have something close enough - then you could use track motion to put the moon in the right spot in post. But I think that would be really painful exercise...
Ya - So I’m trying to watch the lunar eclipse using the pin hole through cardboard technique we were taught in school (you know, so you don’t burn your retinas)
