Love to see some footage, considering the fact that fate was not so kind to me, cloud cover made for a very unhappy night. Well I guess I have to wait till 2007. :'(
I shot the entire thing but was experimenting with many different settings along the way so I didn't get a good consistent timelapse. Check out the grab I just posted in the Screen Grabs section:
Disject,
did you get anything worth showing? I loved the grab you got. I had the samer problem with my timelaps with the moon kept moving out of frame.
The problem, like you say, is that the moon kept moving out of the frame of my static camera, just like yours. Unfortunately, the amount of actual change in the moon's appearance was not significant during it's journey across my viewfinder. I haven't had a chance to capture the footage yet but when I do, I'll post something if it's worth looking at.
Ideally, you need to attach some sort of motor to the tripod that will move at the same speed and direction as the moon. Specialty telescopes have these kinds of mechanisms but they are hugely expensive and, unless you plan on making lots of money from your timelapse footage, absolutely not worth the effort.
This was more fun for me last night, I paid more attention to the experience than trying to get the perfect timelapse which I knew, with video's ultra-low lattitude, was going to be impossible anyway.
