GH5 Lumix DC-GH5 firmware update ver. 2.0 – major upgrade

What was a little surprising is that they said that V60 cards would only record for 5 seconds before shutting down. So right now it looks like it has to be SDXC UHS-II V90 cards to shoot with the 400 Mbps recording formats.

Which makes a mockery of the whole V30 V60 V90 standard if true, as V60 should be plenty fast enough for 400Mbps..

John Miller's stuff (Congrats man!) on the 1st one. Nick Driftwood is another part of the chain-link fencing.

Andrew includes a download link to sample GH5 footage shot with most of the new formats. ( i.e. 400 Mbps ALL-I, HLG, etc... )
I've watched all the clips, unfortunately the "AF Test Duck EOSHD54071" shows the autofocus still hunting focus. Similar problem is present also with the clip named "Bob Horse ALL-I 400 Standard EOSHD54054".

I suspect its an issue of pre-release firmware combined with a new SD card standard that is far more demanding than anything else up to now. Give it some time and it will get worked out. ( reminds me of GH2 bit-rate hacks that took a few months to figure out what really worked well )

I guess that's because any setting must be addressed by their own circumstances. There's no miraculous prescription by default. It should be a method following the effect intended. Case by case.

Better results in this video :

Some autofocus test:

If AF is also improved in 60p, it could be useful for slow motion gimbal shots tracking a subject. Sure, it'd be way more valuable if it performed awesome everywhere (and I think some expectations were mis-set early on by marketing), but just bringing a little half full glass to the table! If AF is 50% better in all cases, that could be enough to really give it some strong usability under certain, specific use cases. And that's cool!

Very good update.

Panasonic says iso100 quality is fixed. I hope it means no more huge highlight clipping.
Now there is more HEVC options. I hope they make also HEVC codec for normal 8bit 4k videos (24P,30P and 60P).
I hope some day they fix exposure value blocking in video modes. i want to see shutter speed, aperture and iso when shooting video.
