Lucas Sucks!!!

Re: Lucas Sucks!!!

Was Han really a nerf herder. I think really he was only likened to one.
Speaking of which does anyone like the Band? Nerf Herder that is.
I like em.

Re: Lucas Sucks!!!

Some people have mentioned how Lucas has lost his mind changing some things and how speilberg is the only person that has things "going on" still.

Well I just remembered this...but wasn't E.T. just released awhile back with a crap load of new changes? I don't remember people pissing there pants over that (but of course I was still young when this new version came out and didn't have much connection with the world...all I cared about was seeing E.T. in the theaters)

But anyways..can some one clear this up? Or is it that E.T. didn't mean as much to anyone as Star Wars did.

Re: Lucas Sucks!!!

I dont think E.T. was as much a phenomenon as Star Wars. No one is begging for the E.T. sequel.

I'd personally like to see:

ALIEN -vs- PREDATOR -vs- E.T.

Re: Lucas Sucks!!!

I don't know where you were but people were "pissing their pants" when Spielberg did that.

That is why he included the original along with the up dated version with the DVD....

Something Lucas is not doing, which means LUCAS SUCKS

Re: Lucas Sucks!!!

yeah I was only like 12 years old when this came out...and I didn't have the appreciation for films then as I do now. That was why I was asking.

I might have been on an expedition in Kilamanjaro; can't remember.

E.T. didn't have the same impact on me (I was 12 when it was released) as say STAR WARS or RAIDERS did.  When E.T. was released it was the same summer as THE THING, THE ROAD WARRIOR and POLTERGEIST.  To me E.T. just did'nt hit me like those did.

Don't get me wrong.  I love the film and consider it one of Steve's finest; I just wasn't balling like a little Nancy like some people were.

People were pissing no doubt and at the time it was the highest grossing film ever (knocking STAR WARS off the spot) but honestly it didn't have the same impact as STAR WARS.  STAR WARS changed the way movies were made (with some help from JAWS) and Science Fiction was re-invented.

Re: Lucas Sucks!!!

I dont LOVE E.T. but was looking forward to seeing it in theaters, and even still was ****ing pissed off at the CG E.T.! ugh! its not really the new sceen, i just ate the CG E.T., the puppet looks great, the CG just looks like a cartoon!

man, and I dont even like E.T. a shitload and was still pissed off.

sorry, you brought it up. :'(

Re: Lucas Sucks!!!

Regarding E.T. changes, I was one of those pissed off people.

I don't even remember what all they did, but I do remember that when E.T. was initially being chased by government types in the woods, faceless characters with jangling equipment belts and waving flashlights, etc., they changed the equipment these guys were carrying. Removed the guns I think.

This REALLY infuriated me, and its just a stupid movie. But lookie here, it sounds like most of you weren't even aware that in the origianl, Han fired on Greedo and killed him in cold blood. Sorry for the mess...

Don't you see? Just a little rewrite, nothing to see here.

No, dammit! I like ADULT movies with frickin' ADULT themes. If I wanted to see an extended product pitch I'd turn on the Home Shopping Network. And if I wanted to be indoctrinated with the latest political correctness fad I'd go back to public school.

This issue gets to the core of why I want to make movies. I really LOVE storytelling, and I LOVE to be told a great story. Not only that, I want the story telling on film to be kept in its original condition, with all the nuance and shades of meaning (or lack thereof) that the filmmakers intended. It was a travesty when Turner starting colorising all those old MGM and RKO properties he bought. Aarrrggghhh!

Here's why I fully support unfettered stem cell research: so we can clone a trainload of friggin BACKBONES and ship them to Hollywood where they are desperately needed.

Lucas is an Early Adopter of Suckethness. We've got to stomp on that ****.
