low lights

I rarely shoot at night so low light feature is not an issue for me , I need a true natural colors which the XH-A1 is lacking (as seen in some footages), I have seen some footages for the Sony HVR-Z1 which looks great but this model is outdated I presume.
Also the XL-H2 rumors stopping me proceeding farther

Try using YUV capture at 4:4:4 (blackmagic) or cineform I believe. I have a post waiting for a response on this flow. I am not sure you can capture 10 bit YUV over firewire and if not then what you are seeing is not what you are getting.

You must work in a higher color workflow (colorspace) to achieve better results. 8 bit (standard) is 255 colors for each channel, 10 bit YUV is 1024 bits per channel, and 12 etc, keep getting higher. So, the best you'll get (I think) is 10 bit but you need a capture card for it (I think).

As soon as someone answers your two (I think) questions you will know why you don't have good color. If you get a new camera and you're still using your old 8 bit workflow then you're really wasting some money and you can send it to me instead ;)
