AC90: Low light footage of Boston

Just some low light shooting in Boston. My original plan was to get 60p clips in good lighting but the freaking rain messed up my plans so I ended up getting to Boston much later. I've been very busy since I've gotten the camera and today was the first day I'd have time to shoot outside with it. It was shot in 24p and it's best to read the description to get the rest of the settings I used or why I shot the scenes a certain way.

Sp does the 90 have true shutter off? The footage looks really really good if you had the shutter at 24.

We'll lest just say shooting in 24p with a shutter of 24 is only good when you don't pan too fast or it'll start to look bad. The only other mode I'd use for low light shooting would be 30p and a shutter of 30. That might end up being better if your shooting in low light places that has a lot of street lights even if you have to increase the gain slightly. You also get better motion quality with 30p and a shutter of 30.

For 24p, try a 1/48 shutter. 30p, try 1/60th.

I only use shutter speeds that low when I'm doing low light shootings. It sort of depends on how often will you pan fast or how much gain you'e willing accept.

Here's another low light video and this time, I used 30p with a shutter of 30. The gain was anywhere from around 10 to 19. It's a trade off choosing between 24 and 30. With 30 you get slightly better motion in low light shooting but with 24 you can get slightly better low light capabilities.

Here's the YouTube link in case you want to view it on a Sony PS Vita for example since it doesn't have a Vimeo app ("yet").

These are briefly done but for sure I'll spend more time on a video for the activities during New Year's Eve & Day. I'll probably use both the AC90 and the GH2 to get footage. Then theirs a low light concert I might be tasked to shoot early January in which I'll use the GH1, GH2 and the AC90 (3 angle multi cam). Now that's going to be fun. I definitely can't wait shooting a music video with the AC90.

Awesome footage, I have decided I am going to pick one of these up in the New Year. The size/performance/cost is too good to pass up, it will be an excellent compliment to the larger sensor cams I use.

Here's a couple of videos that I shot during New Year's Eve.

This one is just some random shooting all in 30p. I'm still a bit pissed that some of the first clips had a shutter of 60. Lest just say if I'm to use a shutter of 60 at night then I might as well shoot it in 60p. It seams when I switched from full auto to Manual, it decided to carry the 60 over. Still for the last of the clips, the shutter was at 30. Auto white balance for everything.

Yes I do understand that a lot of shots look similar. I couldn't help keeping them all in while editing.

This one is the parade in which I also shot in 30p and I used a shutter of 30 throughout.

I still got 2 or 3 more parts that I have to edit and upload.
