GH2 Low end patch?

Anything low end out there that will work reliably with cheap class 10 SDHC cards? Or am I better off just going stock?

I just don't want to spend $150 on a Sandisk SDXC card yet.

Awesome! Thanks for the tip. Will definitely give that one a try. Does it ever lock the camera on you or stop the recording?

I use the FlowMotion 2.02 patch with the 24L camera setting and have had no problem with my Sandisk class 10 cards (30 mbs). It is a much better image than stock and it has the audio hack as well. I found that the 24H only works reliably with a 45/mbs card or faster, honestly I cannot tell the difference between the H and L settings in the video I have shot so far. I have been using it about two months with no problems.

Flow Motion v2 was designed and tested to record reliably at 100Mbps peak bitrate in all GH2 video modes using standard 30MB/sec Class 10 SD cards. Aside from 4GB-file spanning support, there is no need to restrict shooting to FM2's 60Mbps 24L, FH, or H modes. These 60Mbps modes are optimized for long-duration takes that require reliable spanning support. With Flow Motion v2, the only advantage I've found with 95MB/sec SDXC cards over slower Class 10 cards is their ability to support file spanning in 100Mbps 24H, HBR, FSH, and SH modes.

I was using Canis Majoris Night on 24L with some Transcend 16 and 32GB Class 10 cards. No issues, though I wasn't recording long enough for spanning.

Semi-hijacking: how about an ULTRA low-end patch? Say a client requires online uploading of H.264 footage at 8-12mbps for quick turnaround; I think the lowest settings are still well above that?

Um, stock firmware?

But seriously, the GH2 shoots AVCHD, not H.264, so if a client requires that, you'll need to transcode anyway. Basically any small/low-res version of a clip will need to be transcoded as you'll also likely want to reduce the size of the frame as well (e.g. 1080P to 720P or 480P) to make the most of the lower bitrate while still being useful for review purposes.

This is good to hear. With the higher bitrate what kind of time do you get out of 4GB files?

AVCHD is H.264. If the 24p bitrate were low enough, it would only need a near-instantaneous rewrap via ClipWrap to be ready-to-go.

IIRC the lower bitrates are all 60p or interlaced and I think they bottom out around 17mbps. Low-low bitrate (8-12, yet decent) 24p would actually be useful to me.
