Lost video files on JVC GY-HM100u SDHC card!

I did my first gig recording a concert. Luckily it was unpaid. I used a JVC GY-HM100u to record about 1.5 hours of video using a Class 6 32GB SDHC card by Transcend. I placed the SDHC card into a USB reader and looked at the files from Windows 7. Neither Windows Media Player nor Quicktime could play the MP4 files so I placed the card back into the camcorder so that I could play them there. Once I did this, the camera said that the card was unformatted. I removed it and put the card back into my Windows 7 computer and now the PC also says that the card is unformatted. Have I truely lost the video files? Is there a way to recover them?

Hey guys,

I had a similar problem to this one. Used a JVC GY-HM100u with a Class 6 8GB SDHC card by Transcend, and like Pablo Mac, when I opened the .mov files on the computer, they would not work. Quicktime, FCP, and pretty much everything else would open the .mov file and give me an error message about not being able to read it for some reason, but I would get an appropriately sized "black" video, with the audio from the footage but no video.

The video could still be played back on the camera, so I know it's on the card. Also, I managed to get the clips to play perfectly on VLC (because it plays everything), so I know that the video is there, I just don't know how to make it playable in Quicktime or FCP. Do I need a codec or something? First time working with this camera.

Thanks!

That is what you get for buying crappy cards! I had 3 transcend fail me on 3 separate occasions and I will never ever buy Transcend again!. Most likely the footage is lost and you'll need to get some Sandiscs.
