Losing My baby

I have filmed the high school football for the past 5 years, got my dvx last year and loved it for football games. But last week it fell off the tripod and broke the lcd screen.... about 700 bucks to fix. One of the coaches offered to buy me a new camera just between us, even with it being such an expensive camera. Couldn't find another one soon enough so I mentioned the Canon XH A1, bid on one and got it. Now he hands me the check about an hour ago, and asks for my DVX100b. I almost cried, I was planning on fixing it, and starting an actual buisness. He said so the school has another camera. Now the DVX is actually too much camera for just anyone to use, but I guess its only fair for me to give it up. After he offered, I did not think I would be losing my baby

THat sucks, but still you have a great camera in the XHA1.

I was in the same boat. The lcd on my 100a just went black. It has very low hours and I take excellent care of it. I don't know what happen. Anyway, read some threads on the A1, and Bidded on one and won. Set me back $3200.00, but now I have a camera that I can use for a good while to come.

My DVX100a still works great except for the LCD. I'm thinking about checking out the Realstream Andromeda with it. I'll be using an external monitor anyway. I know it sounds crazy, the Andromeda cost $2400.00, plus upgrades. Second thought I might just sell it out right.

Whats a good price to sell a DVX100A with a blank lcd screen?

Well, my buddy was checking with panasonic to order me an LCD screen, and it was like $400 and some odd... so you may want to check that because people aren't going to give you much for a camera without one. Andromeda would be cool to get, but for the $2400 you may be better off fixing your dvx, selling it, and buying another A1 so settings will match for a two camera shoot.

hehe, I have not recieved it yet, it is due on wedensday the third. I am soooo looking forward to entering the HD relm with that camera. How do you like it ownlee?

Its a real ride. I haven't actually shot anything to tape yet, but I have been playing around withit in my theater room with my kids while monitoring the image on my 52" sharp LCD. It looks fantastic. HD is sweet. The lines are really sharp. I can't tell you how much fun it is just fiddling around with it. Trying out different light configs. Going from the dvx to the A1 helps you to appreciate this camera. I have a test shoot schedule with fellow dvxuser next week where I will be shooting to tape. My Letus Extreme should be here by then. I plan to post something if I have the time. I can't wait.
