Losing family...

I know that many of us here can relate and I need to vent. So here goes.

I lost my Dad to cancer many years back when we were both far too young. Now it looks like my Mother is on the same path.

I won't go into details but the cancer is highly aggressive and what some call a silent killer. You don't see it coming and symptoms don't show until it is far too late. Very rare as far as most cancers go.

I just want to hit something!

My Mom has weeks left and I just found out very recently. She has months at the most if she's lucky. I have to try and explain to my 5 year old daughter what's going on while trying to stay strong in the process. It's not easy.

Sigh.

I had to film something with someone over the weekend and I have to say that was a relief. It was a 48 hour festival and it helped me escape for a while. I've still managed to visit her every day despite that and plan on doing so for as long as we have.

Go hug your Mom and Dad.

Sorry to be a downer. I just need a release and I don't want to bring those down around me. My family is having a hard time with it.

Thanks for listening.

Mike

No need to apologize. You are among friends.

Besides, we can never hear often enough how precious and fleeting life is.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Michael.

Thanks for sharing, Mike. When I taught HS I used to close every rehearsal with 'tell your parents you love them'. Got a letter a few years ago from one of the kids in the band who graduated over 10 years prior thanking me for telling him that -- he lost his Mom in a car accident.

Hopefully your comments will touch at least one also.

You and your family are in Linda and my prayers.

sorry to hear that; it's a crappy hand to be dealt. my grandmother died of cancer and my uncle is currently going through chemo.

My heartfelt sympathies. We all gotta go some day, and we can't pick the time or place. I know it sucks horribly, but as someone who just lost a very close friend (ex-girlfriend) in a car accident... well, treasure the time you still have with your loved ones, and the opportunity to say to her what you need to say.

Oh man bro, im really sorry to hear that too, that is an utter tragedy. I hope you get through this, and you know you have peers, filmmakers and guys here that all hope you do okay and care about you.

Please don't ever apologize for feeling bad about losing a loved one. Family is the most important thing in the world. I'm going to take your advice and call my folks right now.

Take care,

Sharing is never a downer. Everytime someone shares the world gets a little better. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I hope you all manage to find some hope Michael, really thinking of you both. The relationship of a mother and son is the strongest to come across I think, and everyone is literally here for you I'm sure. If you want to share & discuss it further.

Take care, and hope you share many more lovely memories to come.
