Loose lens adaptor? Try this fix!

On the adapter shown by the O.P, the leaf springs seem to be part of one piece of metal fully circling the opening whereas more expensive adapters are likely to deploy three separate leaf springs. Just an observation -- that doesn't change things as far as adjusting them.

I've done this a ton of lens adapters I've ordered through the years.

Go slow and make little adjustments and you're golden.

It works the same from the 10 ebay adapters on up, no need to discuss the get what you pay for thing when what you're paying for is a ring of medal.

YMMV, but I've had nothing but good experiences with cheap adapters.

Apologies to anyone who took my post as criticism instead of advice that I believed in.

I should have learned my lesson when I once advised some one not to purchase a particular cheap follow focus unit!

The much ballyhooed, yet fictional urine-indicator dye was never really needed when simple observation will suffice.

When the adapter is costing more than the legacy lens it's supporting, it really isn't. Different strokes for different folks.

The "you get what you pay for" adage applies to lenses as well.

"Different strokes for different folks" no doubt about that.

Typical DVXuser thread, friendly advice eventually met with some form of negativity. All that was needed was a comment on the advice, maybe another way of adjusting the adapter or caution to doing so with "expensive" adapters or even "hey, I have this adapter for X lens mounts and haven't had that issue, give it a try".... Nope, it's "well you get what you pay for son", can't believe that was said in regards to lens adapters, for most lenses we are talking about a tube with a lens mont at the end, as an owner of around £15k in camera equipment I am not bothered about damaging an £8.99 dumb lens adapter and I am also not foolish enough to spend £100s for another branded adapter for old lenses. A supported PL adapter? Nikon aperture adjustment adapters? Meta bones speedboost? yeah sure i will gladly pay the extra for these but Canon FD, old Nikon, OMs? come on.

To the OP, thanks for the advice and the pictures. I have a cheap OM to micro four thirds adapter that I have done this to, cost £8.99 from Amazon market place, worked perfectly well for a year+ and only just needed a little adjusting when I handed it over to my girlfriend with an OM prime lens for her GF3, i just bought myself another one and its really snug at the moment but i will gladly adjust it when becomes loose again and it will, they all do. The overly expensive 4/3 to m4/3 adapter I had when I used Oly 4/3 glass had a similar issue after constant use and there isn't exactly many choices on that front. I too have the Novaflex adapter for my Nikon mount glass that dont have aperture rings and it too has become a little loose, I don't consider that a poorly made cheap adapter but over time this has happened to that too. So do I buy another £165 adapter, seek out a more expensive one or just adjust it with a screwdriver and get on with my shoot?...

I have over 9 of the lenses listed in shooters sig, all with adapters that were under 20 dollars.

In the 2+ years they've been left on the lenses, I've had zero issues at all.

Again, YMMV

i do have a recent experience, i bought 2 adapters from fotodioz, one works perfectly, the other is loose and cant hold the spring in the aperture of the lens.
