Loose e mount

I have a bit of an issue, and am wondering if this is by design (which I doubt) or if it's an issue with my camera. I have a considerable amount of side to side play in my fs100, no vertical movement though. I'm not sure how long it has been loose like this, but I just noticed it. The camera has never taken a hard knock to the lens or anything like that, so I'm a bit concerned.

Anyone run into this?

I took the FS100 apart completely. The structure surrounding the optical components seems to be reasonable for this type of camera. The weak point is the screws that hold the mount on to the body of the camera. (4) 1.5mm stainless screws. This is very weak. Stainless screws are great for not rusting, but they are brittle compared to high-strength alloys. By comparison, the Alexa PL mount is attached with (I believe) (6) 3mm screws...

Well - I'm afraid we're all going to face it sooner or later!

@DM_rider - what kind of heavy lenses are you using?

Just an 80-200, but I always support it. I do a lot of run and gun type shooting, and even though the lens was supported, the constant movement may have finally taken its toll on the mount.

Do you use a Follow Focus? Setting the teeth hard creates traverse stress on the mount, the longer the lens the greater the force.
Just a thought.

yep, I do, but, I am always cautious of that. Just gonna have to send it to Sony and hope for the best.
