Hoping for book on HMC-150

Hello List,

Does anyone know if there will be a book like the "DVX book" or other that helps us HMC-150 owners get the best footage and performance possible out of our cameras?

Thanks!
Randy

Yes there will most definitely be a book dedicated to the HMC150. I'm already working on it. :)

However, in the meantime, if someone wanted to understand the features of the camera right now, The HVX+HPX Book would cover pretty much all the features, since they're all shared from the 150 to the 170. It wouldn't cover the AVCHD format at all, and you'd have to discern between HVX stuff and HPX170/HMC150 stuff, but it would cover probably 80%+ of the HMC150 right now.

Thanks for the interest you've all shown! :)

This is perhaps the busiest I've been in ... I don't know how long. :) We've got a new WBS DVD coming out shortly, the new HMC150 book, another product that I have to leave undisclosed right now but it's a major undertaking, and in a few hours I get on a plane for another continent to shoot content for yet another WBS DVD, plus a magazine cover article and an article for DVXUser that I'm working on.

So... I'd love to say it's right around the corner, but the reality is that it may be a few more months...

Barry... in this economy better to be as busy as you can and take what you can. I'm seeing a real slow down around here, and long-standing clients aren't able to hire me so it's a bit of a scary time. Almost all of the high end work that comes usually to FLorida isn't coming. This is the busy season here, and now it's more like a slow period. hoping it comes around. Go obama .

Nope as it's twice as much as the DVX was and is. THe HMC looks more like it, functions like it, and is similar in price and more designed as an "entry" level cam.

I personally didn't see the need to get the 170 for the few things that it does that the 150 doesn't.. and to NEVER have to borrow, rent or buy P2 again is the biggest bonus I could have imagined. The nightmare of data wrangling a 7 HVX camera shoot was such a PITA that NEVER again. I mean, I had whole crews of people just to handle the data offloading. What an aweful experience. P2 is NOT good for longform shooting with multiple cameras unless you have tons and tons of money and tons of P2 card. Then if you do, it's the best most reliable workflow.. but atlass I don't and I couldn't buy 7x64 gig cards or 14x32 gig cards...

Just got through with the proofs. Drat, a few things need changing. So, fed-ex'd back to the printer and we'll try again. Should probably be here the first week of August.

Today I signed off on the proofs. The books are now in production. Should be here next week if all goes well.

Ordering would be much quicker, and I may or may not be in Africa that week, that's still being determined, so ... I'd say order. :)

Looks Great Barry. I will definitely pick this up. I don't know if this has been discussed, but will there be a dvd as well?

The book includes a CD which has scene files on it for the HMC150, HMC151E, and HMC152EN. It's not a tutorial disc though, it's just the raw camera-original pictures from the book, and the scene files.

A tutorial DVD is a consideration, we're looking at doing new discs but that's a project for the future.

Here, but not yet. Also will be available on Amazon and ebay and select resellers (such as B&H).

But no orders will be taken until I have the finished copies in my hands and can ship immediately. :)
