Anyone watching the WWDC Apple announcements?
They have a new MacPro laptop. It has Thunderbolt, and there's a pic of the laptop connected to the BlackMagic Cinema camera.
 
Yes, NO macpro announcement yet. Maybe not coming judging by the quote of the MBP "The new next gen MBP with retina display. It's the future and best of all shipping today". THey are already onto the OS.
 
Yes, but it was funny :) I vote for doing the the Mac vs PC thing, "yo mama" style

In every mass produced product, of course a few will die in 2 days like your friends. Back on topic. I have a pretty well connected friend who says that we won't see a macpro announced. I hope he's wrong, but I have believe him judging by his status. We'll see, today is the big day for that news....

Just like the iMac my friend bought was POS store bough paper weight. Pay 30-70% more for a new to get 10% more when you sell your old and obsolete tech device, lol. I don't like fixing computers either, that's why I choose PC.

There are plenty of PC's that look a lot better than apple computers. For example, the new Samsung 9 series is smaller, lighter and a lot more beautiful than Macbooks. Tower setups are obvisouly 100-0 for PC world.

If you really knew something about computers you would knew that while there endless possibilities for PC components, for macs the options are very limited. For example the driver support for graphics cards is lousy and you have to use crappy cards. Max RAM for Mac Pro only 64GB etc. Mac Pro is antique.

Apple OS is good for phones but sucks bad for computers. I'm mr truth and not biased like most people. That's why I own iPhone, but that might change since this is the 3rd iPhone I have big problems with. I had to replace the first two and might have to send this back too (still testing if the problems went away after I reseted the whole thing). Samsung is definitelly the next phone for me. Have had enough with the broken iPhones.
 
At least as far as the Mac Pro towers are concerned, if you buy the same quality server grade hardware to build a PC around you will find they are actually pretty price competitive. For iMacs and the rest of the line you do pay a premium for elegant design.
There has been a lot of movement toward AVCHD codecs in prosumer cameras over the last couple of years. While it does generate small files, Long GOP AVC is a real processing hog in post. That has as much to do with the inadequate performance of older dual core machines as anything the NLE developers are doing with their code. More edit friendly I-frame codecs, even raw, require much less processing power but they need fast interfaces and storage with lots of ram to move the massive amounts of data around.
