Looking to purchase a slider

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to purchase a slider but torn on which one to buy. I can't quite afford the Kessler so I'm looking at two alternatives, The Varavon Slider 32" or the Konova 31.5". I"m not sure which one to get, both seem pretty amazing for their prices. I have looked at the DIY route but I'll be using this for client based work, unless someone has a DIY slider in mind that looks semi-professional. I would consider that route then.

This is the Varavon slider that I am looking at it and is this a legit seller?

I'm leaning more towards the Varavon slider just because both videos reviews I watched, the Varavon and Konova look the exact same while the Varavon is $100 dollars cheaper.

Does anyone have any recommendation between the two or is there another slider option that is affordable? Thank you!

I don't know about their slider, but I have my eye on the Varavon camera cage. I haven't heard anything bad about the company yet.

I remember Philip Bloom demonstrating here, that with compact portable sliders you can't 'see' much difference between a 24" and a 36"
and a 24" is easier to manage. I think he's right.

Cheers.

I bought a 24" Varavon slider off personal-view.com's weekend deals and I'm satisfied with it. Came in 7 days from overseas with "expedited" shipping and that was for a total of $240. The deals are gone, but you can find that slider on ebay for $255 now from that same seller you posted.

24" doesn't seem like alot when you hold the slider, but when you put the camera on and move from one end to the other, it shows alot more distance moved than you'd think. You don't need more than 24" for 99% of those moves and if you do, you need a full dolly system with tracks, not a slider. Also it will easily fit in a carry on bag.

Only other thing is it comes with a 3/8" screw on it so you'll need an adapter plate or separate fluid head(which I didn't have), I had to go to Lowes and buy some nuts and screws and JB weld an adapter together. Also if you use a 14mm or wider and try to use the slider to push in a shot instead of side ways, you need to have an adapter that's at least a foot tall above the base plate or the front of the slider will show. My DIY adapter is only as tall as the GH1 so the front shows if I do a dolly in shot, but if I start from half way to the center I don't see the legs in the shot.

EDIT: The video on some of those links was made by that "Olivia Tech" gal and it shows some good examples how much movement you can get with only the 24" model. You notice how in that vid, with some of the push in shots she angles up a bit? If that's 28mm for the Nex or 14mm for us, she probably saw the sliders legs in the shot so that's why she angled up a bit. If the camera was another 3-5 inches higher from the base you can't see the legs with a wide lens.
