I am looking to upgrade to an HVX from a DVX. I am cutting on Final Cut pro 5. Will I have any problems uploading footage from a card on fcp 5? Also i am seeing some crazy deals for HVX's on this pricing depot http://www.pricingdepot.com/compare.asp?item=AGHVX200

whats up with these prices? What is a realistic price to pay for a new one?

Thanks

If you don't purchase from a Panasonic Authorized dealer, then you are asking for a nightmare.

Dozens of posts on this.

$5299 is the best with a bundled 16GB card.

Anything lowered by a couple of hundred dollars is a scam.

I'm looking to purchase an HVX202... but I have FCP HD 4.5 on my computer. Does this mean I MUST upgrade to at least 5.0.4? Or can I use a program to convert the files to readable files for FCP HD 4.5?

I bought a used HVX200 on ebay for $4200 that came with some extra batteries. It was a good deal at the time.

Now that Panasonic is throwing in an $800 16GB card with the $5200 camera, you can think of it as $4500 for the camera and $800 for the card -- all new and with a warranty.

You could still work with it using live streaming (i.e., using it like a tape deck, playing footage on the camera and capturing through firewire). Or you could use Raylight, I'm pretty sure that would work even with 4.5.

Actually, you cannot get from FCP 4.5 to FCP 5 anymore. It was a paid upgrade

You would have to move to FCS2, which will run different amounts depending on what you own now.

That's gray market, I can't believe there's actually a Panasonic warranty on that. Plus there isn't a P2 card included, so you're not saving much money.

It's the "P" model and I registered it no problem. I got mine before the P2 card special for about $4,500. I have no plans to touch P2 cards anyway until the prices come down.
