Looking to buy new monitor for editing and color representation

Okay, so I've been editing on an old SONY CRT monitor and it makes everything look horrible, which leads me to thinking I need to color correct more than necessary.

It's also a 19" monitor so I don't get much space for editing, so I'm looking to upgrade.

Not only would I like a bigger monitor for editing, but for color representation, too.

Is there something I should consider before making a purchase? Like inputs (RGB, Component, etc.) or the like?

Any recommendations? I have a DELL 20" widescreen on my PC and I like it quite a bit. They're pretty inexpensive, too, so I was thinking of just buying another of those.

Feel free to move this to somewhere else, but I'd rather keep it here in the A1 section since I'm an A1 owner.

Sorry, I just know more people here and I figured I'd filter the feedback based on knowledge of the members.

I just got a Dell 24" which has 1920x1200 pix resolution. It has also component input which means it is possible to connect it directly to XHA1 for monitoring in true resolution.

It would be nice have three of those, two for PC display and one connected to HDTV oputput of certain display cards to work as a video monitor...

Of course no pc-monitor can be trusted fror true color correction, I have a 9" well used Sony CRT field monitor for that.

I just got the Dell 2407WFP but haven't had a chance to even plug the thing in yet. I had some discussion with another DP about monitors and I'm not expecting the Dell to give me too exact color rendition, but I'm hoping I can get close.

In LCD's, without spending $3K+ on an HD LCD monitor, I'm thinking color rendition isn't going to be all that accurate.

I've actually been using a recent Philips CRT television to do color correcting and it works fine. From my experience I'd say just about ANY recent CRT is going to give more accurate color/contrast than any non-HD LCD unit.
