Looking for the Tokina 11-16?

:laugh:I think I see what you mean!....this is a difficult lens to get a hold of. Maybe this thread can keep track of where they have them in stock. Mine is supposed to be delivered today. Got mine from Canogacamera.com But they are current out of stock there.

Hopefully those looking for it will see this thread. That lens is very has been very hard to come by. I walked into service photo in Baltimore and picked mine up a few months back. I love that lens.

Steve THANK YOU! I just placed my order as well, it should be here Tuesday. It really does pay to check this board all the time. I feel sorry for all the people who are on the west coast looking for this lens it might be sold-out by the time they see this thread!

the nikon mounted one is a lot easier to get, i wonder what it is with tokina stocking less in the canon mount. was it not popular pre-dslr video?

Tokina 11-16 2.8 for Canon EOS, it is currently showing IN STOCK at B&H
Hi thanks for the heads up. Ordered one too. Can't wait to try it out on my T2i.
Question though, is this all I need since I have the 50mm 1.8 lens or do I need to get the Tamron 17-50mm non VC it's in stock on Amazon.com. I was choosing between those 2 lenses. Please let me know. Thanks guys!

They're sold out now! Just got up a few hours ago and see this amazing thread! Go to order and now they're sold out. I'm on west coast (CA).

The problem with the Nikon mount version is that it doesn't have an aperture ring. So unless you get an expensive adapter to allow the lens to communicate with the Canon, then you're not going to get full functionality out of it.

Kalapakiboogie,
Sorry U missed them. I got mine from CanogaCamera.com (also presently sold out) but if you watch them...they'll have them again very soon. They are located in California and so is the US Tokina Distribution Center. I should receive mine today via UPS.

I haven't used the Tokina and from everything I've read it's a great lens. However if you only currently have the 50mm then I probably would have looked at stuff in the 20-100mm range before buying. The 11-16 is more of a specialty lens for most people.

Yeah I have the Tamron and 17 is plenty wide...I don't even know what I woud do with an 11 (I lied...I did rent an 11 before but only because we are parodying The Shining)

Oh I see, I'm thinking twice now. Maybe I'll just return it and get the Tamron 17-50mm instead? It was an impulse buy actually, but as you said it has great reviews from other users and was recommended by Stu of Prolost. Thanks!

I've had my Tokina 11-16 for the Nikon for a year now and it's my most used lens. Spoke to Tokina recently and was told when it first came out they could only sell Nikon mounts - no demand from the Canon side. Suddenly this year the trend reversed and now Canon is hot. I decided to go for the V3 adjustable aperture Canon adaptor and use the lens on both my new 7D and the older Nikon. Haven't received the adapter yet but did a 7D shoot yesterday and wedged the aperture open to 2.8 with a 1cm length of Q-tip - worked fine!

Is $500 about as cheap as you can get a good wide lens? I have the 50mm 1.4 as my only lens, it works well, but on the t2i with the crop sensor I would like to go wider for sure.
