Hey All!

Looking for constructive criticism on some of my work, anything/everything helps!

I'm fairly happy with it, although I wish it "flowed" a bit more fluidly, and I definitely need a second lav mic, as the audio suffers in a few spots.
Specs:
C100, Canon 24-70, Zeiss 28mm, Tripod

R&B Music Video: [EXPLICIT] - language warning on this one

My first music video for a local artist.
Specs:
C100, Zeiss 28mm, Glidecam

Thanks in advance to everyone!

Some great looking shots. In the first video I'd do some automation on the the music levels though as it really swamps the lady's voice.

Hello from France,

Image quality for the restaurant is superb. Super job.
(For rap music, I hate sorry, but you are for nothing ;-) I did not even get to do the shoot !

Great imagery in the restaurant spot. Is it all available light?

I really like the effects on the music video.

Good work on both. The C100 really shines in both. How would you rate the Zeiss lens?

Thanks! Exterior shots had no lighting. Interior shots of a talking subject are lit using Lowell Lights (DP Light and Tota Light). The shots of the interior and of the food is just with the available light. Nearly all the restaurant video was shot with the Canon 24-70 f2.8. The only Zeiss shot in there is the Glidecam shot. (Only had a few hours to shoot, so needed the flexibility)
The entire music video was shot with the Zeiss 28mm. I definitely love the look of the Zeiss, but my glass selection is lacking at the moment so I use what I can. I would definitely rate the Zeiss very highly. Its my go-to whenever I can.

Thanks! I had to get Angelia to stand on a pelican case to get her tall enough so I could frame that last ending shot (with the funky lighting thing in the background).
I will definitely re-tweak the music a bit! I think I have a LOT to learn when it comes to post-audio!

Thanks a lot! :)

The music is way too loud on the restaurant video while she's talking.

Since I'm not from Oregan I have to work a little harder to understand the accent, but I'm really having to work hard to hear her in the first place because of the frequencies and volume of the music.

Agreed! Thanks for your thoughts! Will have to tweak that

Nice work, I think it would be even better if you did a little more work on the flesh tones and lowered your mids.
But all the architecture looks great.

You have gone for the common look for food/hospitality which is a bright vibrant punchy saturated look which really works here.

The only problem is the skin tones are blown out to the point of looking over lit, overexposed and plastic. Some do like this 'look' but as bill totolo above points out bringing your mids down will help. Even down bringing them to 80 IRE will help, which is still a bit overexposed for skin tones but will give you the same 'look' and be less harsh. The presenters skin is quite warm in parts too. Giving a consistency in flesh throughout will work wonders :)

Did you use a cine gamma? If so try a Wide DR next time and make sure your skin tones fall below 70 IRE.

Thanks for the comments!
That was one of my initial concerns. I shot on WDR, and then I added saturation and sharpness/contrast as well. When I originally did it I thought it looked alright, but when I came back to it I was worried that I was pushing it a bit too far.
Good to confirm my concerns were accurate!! :)
