I shoot bands with my Canon XH A1 and Im looking for a camera I could throw in the back for a second angle that could capture some pretty decent audio for live shows. I see a lot of youtube videos where people have lower model consumer cameras (cameras under $1000) that capture some pretty decent natural sound where it isnt blown out. Any suggestions from anyone? Thanks so much!

If high quality audio is a priority, you might want to look at one of the new pocket 24-bit/96kHz audio recorders with built-in 1080p/30fps camcorders. They're less than $1000 and they produce both HD audio and video:

The Samson Zoom Q3HD costs $261 at Amazon, but it has a fixed (no zoom) lens.

If you can wait until June 25th, you might want to pre-order the Olympus LS-20M, $299 at Adorama, which has a 4X zoom.

Whoa, didnt even know those existed! This might be what I need. The video doesnt have to be great because it is nearly a back up cam. Thanks for the info
