Looking for an affordable hdv deck to capture my Canon A1 footage. Any suggestions.

Really looking for an affordable deck for my hdv footage. Need names and models. Looking to purchase one very soon. The prices I've seen were amazingly high.

Was told that 24f from the A1 won't work on Sony & JVC decks so I guess there out the window.

There is not a deck available. You will need to get an HV20 or a Firestore. There are many threads on this.

Not at all. Most people never used a deck to capture with their DVX anyway. They just used the camera itself or some cheap handi-cam to do it. Think of the HV20 (or HV10, which can be had for much cheaper now) as a deck that just happens to shoot video. If capturing is all you needed then why pay thousands for a proper deck?

You can pick up a HV10 for around $700. It's not going to get better than that.

Wow! So I won't be able to use a deck at all for caturing. That sucks. Was really counting on it. So I take that the hv10 was the earlier model of the hv20. I was going to buy an hv20 for a B cam (car scenes, and risky shots) anyway. Just wanted to have a more professional looking setup and workflow with a deck.
