Hey guys,

First post....been lurking for a long time.
I'm looking for a fast prime lens no slower than f/1.4 around the 24mm range, preferably with manual aperture control for around £600/£700. I'm somewhat split between the rokinon/samyang 1.4 24mm and voigtlander 0.95 25mm.

I like the versatility of the samyang lens (nikon mount version) in terms of compatibility with different camera bodes; canon, panasonic, nikon etc. But there are mixed opinions and reviews about it's optical quality.

From what I've read and seen, the general consensus of the voigtlander is highly positive. I currently shoot with Canon DSLRs mostly and was looking to upgrade to a GH2 soon (waiting to see what the community think of the GH3 after its actually been released) but I'm not too keen on investing in a lens that's limited to m4/3 cameras only. New cameras are announced and released on a fairly regular basis and I like the idea of future proofing all my lenses.

What do you guys think? Are there any other fast primes I should consider?

I own the Rokinon/Samyang 35mm and 85mm and they are superb lenses. I would think the 24mm is the same. What do you mean mix opinion? I have heard great things about the 24mm.

The Rokinon/Samyang/Bower/Walimex/etc... 24mm/T1.5 is a very good lens.

I's sharp past 2/2.8, lacks a bit of contrast in my opinion and you've got some green/purple fringing at 1.5 but the overall price/performance ratio makes it a real bargain !

You won't be disapointed if you buy this lens.

Cheers.

I know you stated you want f1.4, but it may be worth looking into the 24mm kiron f2.0, It's a fantastic lens, TACK SHARP, sweet bokah, and excellent color rendition, It's my favorite lens right now. Their prone to having a sticky apature, But there's plenty good ones around if you look.
