hi all!

i am artist and looking for a good low-light cam to catch my projects on cam. often in these projects, there are light-installations changing very slowly the light from bright to dark.
would be nice if this cam would have lots of manual functions and 25p.

is the xl2 a good choice for what i need?

can you help me out? i am looking a long time in internet to find my perfect cam...but i guess the best way is to ask the pro's!

thank you!

thanks for the link,

don't look anymore for the xl2..

dvx seems to be a good choice.

which cam is better in low-light, sony vx2100 or dvx? sony pd-170 or dvx?

i know, this two sony cam's are not the same standard like the dvx...i am only asking about the low-light-power...

thanks!

The vx2100 and the pd170 have the same lowlight specs which is far superior to the dvx lowlight specs. I have owned both the vx2100 and the dvx. Both were great cameras. Overall the dvx was better but the vx2100 has some stunning lowlight footage. I'd say, if you are only going to be using the cam to shoot in lowlight, to buy the pd170 since it performs amazing in lowlight and had all the professional audio specifications.

vx2100 review:

good luck

Hello Nuam,
You may want to check out an XL2 video regarding its capabilities on the www.dvcreators.net website. There is one scene illuminated with only a candle; the image is very, very clean.

The link is listed below. The file is very large, so it may take a while to start playing. There have been some issues getting it to play in Safari, but Explorer and FireFox have worked well. Not sure which platform you use.

Click on the "Watch the XL2 Feature Tour Video!" in the middle of the page.

guys have a question, when you say pd 170 is good in low light, is that with gain 0 or 3, 6 ? and how high can the gain go to not get any noise. thank you
