Looking for a field monitor that can double as a teleprompter monitor

Our teleprompter monitor kicked the bucket, and I've been in need of a field monitor for some time now. I'd like to kill two birds with one stone and get one that could be used as both. The propter monitor needs to be able to be fastened in the middle on the back (bottom when monitor is face up). We have the rig seen here: http://www.prompterpeople.com/ipad-tablet/ (second picture with the caption 'Ultra light sled'). The iPad option didn't work for us because the iPad we had was old and couldn't keep up. Someone found an old monitor that worked, but it died. Now we need a replacement. Do any of you guys do this (one item for both jobs). What should I be looking for? Thoughts?

Oh, it needs to have VGA (out) and HDMI (in). HD/SDI input a plus, but not necessary.

If you're using the iPad prompter at camera position, get the HDMI Lightning dongle and run it to a monitor at the prompter op position. Control the prompter with a Bluetooth keyboard. I've done this many times. The only challenges come with distance and/or obstruction between the iPad and the keyboard. For cable runs over 25' with HDMI, you need an active chipset in the cable. Or, get the VGA Lightning dongle and run VGA from the iPad to the prompter op's monitor.

And when you say this needs also to work as a camera monitor, are you looking for high-quality/accurate? I have a 22" LED HDTV/computer monitor that I have used on set for both camera and prompter, with VGA and HDMI. I've also used a Lilliput 667 via HDMI as the prompter op's monitor. On a recent shoot, needing prompter for handheld work, I put the Lilliput 667 on a magic arm just above the camera lens and fed it with an HDMI run from the prompter op's position (eliminated distance and blocakge issues with the Bluetooth keyboard).

I know this doesn't answer your specific question of "which monitor," but fleshing this other stuff out can help narrow that down.

I'm not sure I'm following. Current set-up is a 2010 (i think) macbook pro running the propter software to the VGA monitor (it died, though). We have the iPad set-up, but realized the iPad couldn't keep up (it's a generation 1 iPad) with it being very slow to respond. So we have the sled and risers, but the iPad isn't being implemented. Just a small VGA monitor. Roughly an inch and a quarter thick. I'm usually only about 5 to 8 feet from the propter, so distance isn't an issue. Never prompting on the go.

I'm just needing a 8 to 11 in monitor that's accurate. I'm working with a Sony FS700 and the focus assist when pushing in is garbage. It's basically, "Yeah, this is fuzzy, but it's the least fuzzy option." Most of our work is locked off shots, with a few shoots throughout the year roaming. So having it mounted to the camera would be nice.

Thank you very much for any and all help.

Ah! Sorry... didn't follow about the iPad being slow. I will say, as I use it often, the Teleprompter Pro app for iPad is very useful. That is, assuming you're working with a more recent model of iPad.

What's your budget for this monitor?
