Hey guys

I am a DVX shooter, that has to work with a XL2 at a new job,
I am having a hard time making anything look decent. Trying to shoot 24p 4.3 mode with 2:3 pull down, as oppesed to the 2:3:3:2 pull down?
Staying in manual doing all my setting (Fstop, white balance, focus ) similar to how I would on my DVX, but when I go back and look at my footage indoor & outdoors. I have a lot of video noise, heavy grain, poor color. The footage could pass, but certainly I would like it to be a lot better.
our final output is for tv and web, but mostly tv
Am I missing something? or goiong about this wrong?
any and all advise would be great, or link to a good xl2 site.

Are you using the stock presets? Go through the custom settings and tweak it with that, the stock settings are a bit washed out. Also keep in mind that if your main output is for TV, TVs will boost the red already, but if you've been shooting with the DVX I'm sure you know that.
 
I've been trying to match the cine gamma look of my DVX with my XL2 (for two camera shoots) and found that for the closest match I set the XL2's Gamma setting to Normal (Cine seems to look a bit colder) & put the Colour Saturation setting to full. I'm so used to the richer colour response of the DVX.
 
check out the xl2 thread at www.dvinfo.net/conf. quite a library of nice presets to download there, including a couple to help color match the xl2 and dvx. you can use up to +6 gain without much visible noise, by taking the coring and sharpness down a bit.
