Hi All,

I currently have a Canon C100 with Atomos Ninja Blade, I was looking at getting a used Canon C500 Can get one quite cheap by me.

Is it worth it or is it worth saving extra money and getting a C300MKII later?

I have always liked the imaged of the Canon C500.

When shooting 4K With the Odyssey is the 4k only RAW or can you do Pro Res 4k LT,HQ,422 Etc? Quite interested in the 2k recording.

Also How about the Atomos Recorders I know they are limited on Frame Rates.

Thanks

I was trying to find that out this morning and didn't have much luck getting inform from the Odyssey page. I think someone posted they'd go this route if they new the Q7 recorded 4k 60p proves...

Found this just now, doing a google search... looks like it can't...

To bad because a new 500 dropped to 7k in the US...

Only raw...

Edit... Maybe so....

The O7Q can record 4K Prores flavors at up to 30p right now (hopefully more in future). If you want 4k60p or higher frame rates (up to 120p) you have to record raw or half raw .rmf files. I use the Canon Raw Developer to transcode those files to whatever resolution & prores flavor I want then delete the .rmf files. It's fairly painless, but a bit of data hog until you get the files sorted. Footage is gorgeous though, and the Canon Raw Developer is pretty quick even on my 2012 Macbook Pro.

Yeah, I'm definitely keeping an on the C500 too. The only thing the I would miss is DPAF. Shame they never added it.

Thanks Guys

How is the Atomos shogun for 4K? What is the data size of 4K raw.

I think ink I would go for the c500 over fs7

thanks
