C100: Logarist LUTs for Canon Log 1/2/3

I have built LUTs to enable color correction of footage shot in Canon Log. The LUTs are based on Canon's specifications of the various Canon Log color spaces. You can download the LUTs for free at logarist.com.

I think you will find that color correction becomes quite easy using these LUTs, in contrast to the struggles that I know some of you have faced trying to work with Canon Log footage in the past. That's especially true for Canon Log on the C100 and C300, which uses a very strange Canon Log color matrix. Fortunately Canon's specification of the color space seems to be accurate and allows that strangeness to be inverted. Canon did a good job in designing the Canon Log color space to encode the dynamic range of the C100 in just 8 bits per sample, so banding is really not much of a problem. (something I can't say about other camera makers' log color spaces in 8 bits)

Please try the LUTs and let me know what you think.

Here is the list of Canon Log color spaces that I currently support:
Canon Log
Canon Log, BT.709 Gamut
Canon Log, DCI-P3 Gamut
Canon Log, DCI-P3+ Gamut
Canon Log, BT.2020 Gamut
Canon Log, Cinema Gamut
Canon Log 2, BT.709 Gamut
Canon Log 2, DCI-P3 Gamut
Canon Log 2, BT.2020 Gamut
Canon Log 2, Cinema Gamut
Canon Log 3, BT.709 Gamut
Canon Log 3, DCI-P3 Gamut
Canon Log 3, BT.2020 Gamut
Canon Log 3, Cinema Gamut

That first Canon Log corresponds to the Canon Log preset of all Cinema EOS Cxxx cameras, which is to say it's Canon Log gamma and Canon Log color matrix. It's the only log mode available on the C100, C300, and C100 Mark II. The other color spaces with a gamut specified are available on the C300 Mark II, the C700, and some of the C500's outputs. The information is included in a table, so you can be sure to find the correct LUT for your camera.

I'm out shopping just now, and on mobile so I haven't checked your website. Are these available in .cube format? If so then your a star. Iv just finished 5 days shooting in clog 3 and would like to test it when I'm back home

Not bad, pretty nice actually. I shoot with a customized WDR PICT file. I don't perform any post correction using that file. I'll have to switch to Canon LOG and continue with your two LUTs and see how it goes. Nice, thank you!

Greg, they are Cube files.

control4userguy, thanks for letting me know about the download problem. All of the files are hosted in Dropbox, so I'm not sure what the problem was. If people keep having problems I'll have to switch hosting providers. What is a WDR PICT file?

^It may be a localized issue. I wouldn't do anything unless others find the same issue. I don't think there are many using Vegas anyway. The WDR I'm using has been heavily edited for my particular use to avoid any post-processing of the video.
