log footage before importing

I currently use an HVX and P2 Store with a couple 4Gb cards. Im looking for a program that can help me log my footage before importing into final cut. When I mount my p2 Store I get 15 NO NAME disks. I then import them into final cut. I dont get any type of reel number and im left with 100's of bizarre named clips in my bin. I want to be able to specify reel numbers and rename the clips according to my project.

Is there any programs that do this? pluggins that do this?

would be cool if FCP allowed you to add card number, project title, and date to the header of the clip title before you hit "import all". would also be cool if it didnt just show up "no name" on the desktop, but i guess thats asking for too much.

I don't have nor have I used a P2 Store, so not sure how well they work with it, but the pair of programs out that would kind of help with such would be:

P2 Genie by Anders Holck (regular board contributor)

- Demo version is fully functional for limited # of uses (so feel it out)
- Full version is very reasonably priced if you feel it will do what you want/need

P2 Log (legacy product HD Log, will do the P2 stuff too)

- Has quite a bit of features, especially towards the naming side of things, might be more towards what you had described in your posting
- Is a little pricey, but not too bad if you really are doing a lot of P2 stuff and find this is exactly what you need
