1. I filmed an outdoor event in 24p, Im ready to capure my footage into Final Cut Express......What setting and Pulldowns should I be using to get the best quality

2. Same question but...this event was shot in 60i

Thanks for the help this site rocks!!!!

Log and Capture does not exist in FCE4. There's only "Capture," which work's like FCP's Capture Now. The "Log and Transfer" option is for file-based (tapeless) media.

For the 24p footage, are you shooting in 24p or 24pA? FCE does not have the capability to work with pulldown or 23.98 footage. You have to keep it at a 29.97 project. 24p footage (that is, 24p native) can be edited on a 29.97 time line even though it may look a little weird when it's played back.

Your only option is to capture and edit at 29.97.

I am shooting Race events, super cross & Moto cross.. What would be the best format to film in.....24p - 60i - and so on

Thanks

then how would you export to 24p after?

Again, FCE does not have the ability to work in 24p.

I guess you could use QuickTime conversion to force it into 23.98, but at that point it will be deleting random frames and will just make things look worse.

If you want to work in 24p at all, you need to move to FCP.
