Log and transfer makes FCP crash.

I have FCP 7, so it's up to date for AVCHD, but when I click on Log and transfer FCP abruptly closes.
Is it a setting problem, driver, codec?

My computer just has been reinstalled, it worked on the old version and I truly don't guess what could be wrong.

Help please?

Is it a truly clean installation? No third party plugins at all? Usually this is caused by plug-ins or user preferences that need trashing. Also, check (in user/system preferences) where your scratch drives are. If these are not right then FCP can throw a wobbly.....

Archive and install, migration assistance, and time machine procedures do not work with FCS.

How did you install the studio?

Ohh...I have Time Machine actually...that would be a new thing. It's set on automatic save.

Why can't it work with FCP, how does it affect it usually and is there a way to bypass it?

I have Time Machine running all the time. It doesn't effect FCP use, but may not provide a good restore point if your system gets trashed and you re-install using time machine. Personally I've never had a problem with it, but I will bow to the experience of others who may.

I know that i ran into a Perian conflict issue were FCP would crash whenever i tried to import 720p footage. It bugged me out for a while but as soon as i removed Perian, FCP worked perfectly importing 720p footage.

Pro apps should be freshly installed. Time machine installs eventually will cause issues, from what I've seen. Same with migration assistant and archive and install.
