Location P2 problems

I'm in PAL land so haven't quite yet got my HVX but one thing thats kinda concerning me is that using P2 on location is increasingly looking like a problem.

I'm going to be in China for about a month spending most of the time in remote rural locations. I can see two P2 problems.....

1) Using the budget approved 2 (but possibly 1) 4gb card I'll need to dump the output a number of times a day.

2) I'll need a repository to store up to a months worth of clips.

The only thing I can think of at the moment is too take an old iBook (with firewire connection) and dump the card(s) to one of the new bus powered Lacie Little Big Disk which max out at 320GB which is in budget. My concern (if this is even possible) is the time it will take not to mention the weight!

I's appreciate anyone elses thoughts on this subject but must advise that the budget is fairly limited esp if its a HVX ONLY solution!
Cheers

Bringing only one 4GB card is suicide!
You need to calculate hows much footage you'd likely shoot in a day's time. Lets say you shoot about 1,5 hours a day. If you shoot 720/25p thats 8 minutes per 4 GB. So you can shoot for 8 minutes then use about six minutes to offload the card...and you need to do that 12 times. I think that will drive you mad.

Do us a favor.....don't name your threads "Location P2 problems" Because you have no problems....you dont even have a camera.

You dont NEED a laptop to off load mxf files. There are many threads of mxf workflow descriptions. Please do some research.

My advice for remote, one man band shooting, is to take care of weight. Although the HVX has a lot to offer, I say take tape and a lot of batteries.
