Live Show Trailer

I filmed the culture show at my school with the A1 and put together a trailer for it. Check it out

Overall I have to say that the A1 performs adequately in SD and in low light. I was running at 3 db gain most of the time and in several scenes I bumped the gain to 6db with no noticeable noise (what little that was present was a very fine pattern and the black areas were surprisingly clean).

First time I try encoding with h264 so the result isn't perfect. Quicktime Pro doesn't retain the 16:9 aspect ratio for some reason and put black bars on either side. It also washes out the gamma somewhat. File size is 82 mb, and I haven't discovered a good balance between quality and size yet.

i would bring the resolution down to 640x360 and use mpeg4 audio. use about 112kpbs and at that resolution, quicktime can worry more about the quality, less about resolution and the size will be decent.
Also make sure your aspect is Square 1.0. I used to think i could use 1.33 anamorphic but it resulted in 4:3 picture and bars on the sides. so try 1.0.

your clip is about 1:30. that could easily be a less than 50MB file and still have great quality for h264. experiment with the size, resolution, audio. experiment, experiment! ;)

oh by the way, great clip and the music just kicks! :)

Thxn for the tip, I'll go back and give the recompression a try. There's a few things I still need to fix with this as well (some of the slow-mo sucks as I was too lazy to go the deinterlaced in AE route).
