Hi
I've read and it was my understanding that 'Quick' focus should be enabled by default.
In trying to correct the autofocus on a Tamron 17-50 zoom by adding microadjustments, I realized that although i could correct it at the long end, when I switched to the shorter end (50mm), my microadjustments threw the autofocus out of whack.
So in frustration I switched to Live mode focusing instead of Quick mode.
Tack sharp, no problems.
1st assumption-
Live mode focusing requires Live View 'on' for it to work
2nd assumption-
Live mode focusing is independent of any microadjustments you set
3rd assumption-
When Live mode focusing is enabled and Live view is 'off', your focusing defaults to Quick mode(phase detection) along with any microadjustments you have set.
So my conclusion from all this is to ALWAYS have Live mode focusing enabled, to give you the best of both worlds, additional focus accuracy with Live view 'on', and the ability to use Quick focus (with any microadjustments) when Live view is 'off'.
Please feel free to correct any of my assumptions above.
