line in frame when tilting/panning

I find when I tilt and pan I often get what appears to be a line splitting the upper and lower portion of the frame. It looks like the upper part of the frame is horizontally shifted. It's really annoying.

I don't notice in camera, but when I play it back in quicktime/vlc it is there no matter what camera settings I use. Anybody else have this? I've tried looking all over but can't find info.

If so, is this a quicktime/vlc or playback problem or a gh1 sensor issue?

that's just "tearing" because your video card can't keep up. if you step thru the same pan frame by frame I bet you won't see it anymore.

I sure hope so, but it doesn't seem like tearing. It's a distinct line the separates the top part of the frame from the bottom. It looks like 60 cycle buzz but slower. The worst thing is that once it starts happened it won't stop until it slowly scrolls out of the frame. I was doing some more testing and it only happens with tilts. I can whip pan all day and it won't happen.

actually, I'm pretty certain it's not tearing and it is something camera related. I compressed it heavily using compressor and the problem is still there. If noone else has this problem when tilting I feel like there is an issue with my particular camera

if you post a clip here, would we be able to see the issue? your first post said that in camera you didn't notice...that doesnt poit towards a camera issue. just saying.

yeah that definitely sounds like a 'video out' issue, (card related). have you tried the files on a different system? Try to isolate/force the problem.

I get the tearing you describe if I play something on mirrored dual display (driven by my puny mac mini). It goes away on turning one of the displays off. In my case it's definitely an underpowered video card.

Wow. sure enough, when I turned off second display, that damn crawling line went away. you pay 2k+ for a macpro you just expect that your video card is not that crappy. thanks. I feel much better now.
