Look at ebay for cheaper version with integrated battery.
I also reccomend to look at 10" LCD monitor I have.
It has higher resolution and integrated LiIon battery.
Plus can be used as dumb prompter (because of integarted video player).
And has headphone monitoring output.
Ask seller to relist it in US (as price is now higher by 10% due to exchange rate change).
I had some talks with producers of this thing and they endured that after some time they'll make improved version with some things especially aimed at our needs.
We'll see.
I have this 7" LCD. Works great for a preview LCD on the GH1, and should be a decent recording monitor on the GH2. I got mine with the Sony 970 battery, a short HDMI cable, and the shade. I've never been able to get the huge battery to run out...no telling how many hours it will go. It doesn't have a headphone jack, but that's not really a concern of mine at all...since I only use the on-camera mic for sync/ambient. I don't bring it to weddings, since reviewing footage is usually futile...with no re-takes. But for other stuff, it's fun to be able to check focus, and playback the footage for others on something a little bigger than the microscopic GH1 LCD.
It may not be the best LCD out there, but for $223, it was just too cheap not to buy. Shipping was very fast from the other side of the planet...great vendor to buy from.
