Like a BOSS.....

Man, you are good. I'd never even heard of this lens before I saw it for sale.....I was kind of unsure if they printed it right as I didn't know
there was a lens made with that range that stayed constant 2.8. You know your lenses!

Lol I know that sexy beast anywhere. Before the MK II became popular you could get them for like 150 in pristine condition...not so much now.

Ahhh.....that makes sense. It covers FF that's why it's so
big. Yeah I got this one from a camera shop in fantastic
shape but I paid $280 for it. Another nice lens for the FS100
though.....Its actually close to a do it all lens at 2.8.

What are you editing?

I am using PP CS6 here, I also use FCP 7 and FCP X. But the content is just another one
of my self produced DVDs and Blu Rays. Most are typical 'touristy' about Alaska stuff,
we seem to be getting popular with Hollywood recently so everyone is curious.
But this particular one is starting as a short film. I can tell you, the FS100 seldom
looks better than when you are shooting after dark with subjects in the foreground and
dreamy, swirling bokeh of city lights in the background. Instant cinema appeal,
just screams big budget. If you can't tell, I love the look.

gabe-

you posted films do seem to "show-off" your delight with the fs100 and ak.

not to spin the thread in a different direction, but....

one edit machine for cs6/premiere pro + fcp 7 + fcp x?

if so, what machine/graphic card combo works for you?

thanks in advance.

be well.

That's a very good question. I actually AM using one machine/graphics card info and DO have all
three edit suites installed. I will also be doing an indepth blog post on this in the near future.
Basic info is that I bought a 2009 MacPro and have upgraded a lot of stuff in it. You can find
Quadro FX4800 cards on eBay from a guy who flashes the PC version to work with a Mac.
The Mac version costs $1800. The version from the eBay tech 'geek' costs about $200.
It works perfectly and gives CS6 CUDA acceleration. One other thing, is you should
see my blog post called 'Can't we all just get along'?
There is a weird issue with FS100 footage that has been 'rewrapped' to .mov.
Easy fix though, change extension to .mpg.

Yeah, whatever it is, it has a nice look to it.

I've been so busy with other things and a very heavy workload….no time to play with my FS100. It's kinda collecting dust. I'd love to shoot something cool!

Funny thing about it is, this particular scene was shot 100% with available light. Just had them standing under a exterior building light......then
everything was dark outside that 'pool' of light, then other buildings and car lights in the BG......and with the FS100 it just looks fantastic.
Probably because it is soooo good in low light.

I know what you mean, I just picked up 3 projects as I'm betting 'overflow' work from the local PBS station and now I'm stinking busy.
I was kind of hoping get a film for a film festival in Canada, but not going to have the time I don't think.

Tamron SP AF 28-104mm f2.8---Is this an EF mount or EF-S mount?

Its a full frame lens (does that mean its EF instead of EF-S?) Sorry I'm not up on still lenses
100%. It works great with the Metabones mark II and its full frame which means it would
also work with the Metabones 'speed booster'. That would make it a pretty versatile lens
as you could use the 'speed booster' adapter and get something starting around the angle of
view of a 18-19 (on S35) and switch to the mark II to get up to the 105mm......all at F 2 or 2.8.

Yep, I finally figured out it is an EF lens, that is good. I wonder when this lens was made last. EF-S didn't start until 2003. Yes I ordered the speed booster last nite, and have the Mark II already.

Gabe, I am not able to change the iris using the Metabones Mark II, but I think you can, comments?

...........................Never mind, its connected on one FS100 but not the other, so it must be a camera thing.

Do you have the upgraded firmware on both FS100's? Newest firmware on the Metabones?
Iris change works great for me on every lens ever since I sent the Metabones in to get firmware updated.....

I have the latest firmware on both FS100's. Probably don't have the latest firmware on the Metabones, I plan on sending it in this spring. I will be getting the speedbooster in a few days, so that may say more about the situation. I have gotten the "do not recognize the lens" before intermittently even with the SEL18200 lens, but usually you take it off and put it back on, and it's fine.
