I was totally unimpressed.
It was more like a commercial for certain lines of products.
Not even a mention of ratios. And for Pete's Sake, spring a little money for a model and some decent wardrobe.

By the way, none of my comments were directed at you, thefilmaddict. I know that you didn't produce or shoot it - you just passed it on. In for that reason, I did find it interesting. But for the reasons I mentioned.

Two things:
1) Subject was keyed from the wrong side

2) Why does it say "in 4K"? Was the video supposed to be 4K? I only saw an option for 720P max. Or was it supposed to be "how to light for 4K"?

Anyway, it was a glorified add for lighting products, with bad lighting.

This website is just trying to help beginners get an idea of how to start looking at lighting. Yeah, it's not perfect but at least they're offering basic steps to help a brand new film maker visualize a setup. Relax.

Also, where are they selling anything? There are no Amazon links or any links at all.

As Tina Turner so famously sang: "What's 4k got to do with it?" OK, so maybe that's a paraphrase.

But I'm mostly serious. Will a web tutorial shot in 4k be more informative than one shot in HD? Will it look better on my phone? Tablet? My 24" monitor than can only do HD?

I'm just trying to understand why it being in 4k is worth flagging like that.

It gives me some faith in humanity again when people turn against videos peddling mediocre (or probably below mediocre) results. This tutorial was awful! Not even beginner would gain anything from it as it uses confusing terminology ("motivated light source" and key from the other side???) and shows horrible results EVEN while using fancy lights.
