C300: Lexar 3500x CFast cards are now certified by Canon

Hello cobz01, have you used the Lexar 3500x 256 Go? Sandisk are good but they are limited to 128 Go and for 4K I think it's a too small capacity of storage.

Glad to hear it's officially approved. I've been using four Lexar 3500x 256 GB on my C300 Mark II for six months or so without issue.

One of the guys I know had a card failure on his
Lexar 3500x 256 GB.

So are you guys really having to pay almost $600.00 for a 256GB CFast card for your C300 MKIIs? Ouch. I thought the prices on CFast were supposed to fall rapidly? Which format do you find yourself shooting mostly and how much recording time does it give you on a 256GB CFast card?

Thanks for those numbers cobz01. I have some upcoming shoots that may go with the C300 MKII and this is valuable information to know.

I have been using the Lexar 3400 128 for 5 months without any issues.

+1 same here. I ran a test of the Lexar and Sandisk that comes with Canon 1dx mark ii. Just FYI info.

Writing speed on Sandisk 128 Go is two time faster than in the Sandisk 64 Go. You can't compare two cards with different storage capacity. Speed is not the only parameter, stability is an another one that count.

Well, lucky you! I have colleagues who have had failure on TWO of those Lexar 3400x cards in C300mk2 within the same day! And more...
It's not about what read or write speed you can measure in some testing app, but how it does what needs to be done to successfully operate inside the C300mk2. F.ex. the Lexar 3600x cards are not approved for C300mk2 because they are tailored towards how ARRI cameras write their data. Yet, the Lexar 3600x are faster cards. So, this doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with the Lexar 3400x CFast cards, it just means that the 3400x cards are not fully compatible with Canon C300mk2.

And great news that the 3500x cards are finally approved!!! :-)
