Letus35 FE test footage!

Zoom & Focus Settings

Zoom & Focus Settings

What are your zoom & focus settings.

I can't get away with any less than Focus at 92-100
with the Flip Enhance.

Thanks,
Adrian

I hate youtube with all my might. The videos end up compressed as s**t. The footage looks really good. The letus35 has gone a long way since when I tried it. And it's so afordable I'm even thinking about giving it another go when I buy the A1.

Thanks guys. I know YouTube's shi*e for video quality but it's the most convenient (and cheapest way to show your work to everyone). The quality of the picture is amazing with the Letus35FE. Pictures are softer and less contrasty so more filmlike.

Adrian here are my settings: Autofocus hovers around 68-69, never more than 70.
zoom is a little bit tricky. If I have the adapter attached in such a way that the lens is at the top, then I only have to zoom in around 89-90. If I turn it so that the lens is at the bottom, I have to zoom in around 92 and above to rid myself of the outside of the GG. Probably due to the construction of the adapter so mine's turned to the top for the lens.

anyone who can afford one should get one as it REALLY changes the quality of your video significantly (the look anyway). I save dup for mine over the last 2-3 months and took a second job to afford this one but well worth it.

Tips on buying: when you get the adapter, please get Quyen and co. to make sure the adapter is free of dust or insects etc. When I got mine there was a black speck on the mirror and its still there. For whatever reason, sometimes the speck appear in focus and other times not. The footage I used was when the speck was out of focus. When it is IN focus, its HUGE! Quyen hasn't replied to my email as yet on how to address this issue. Not good for me cos I live across the other side of the world and sending it back for a clean is not an option.

UPDATE: Quyen has emailed me ad givenme instructions on how to clean it. However as I am probably more likely to break the damn thing, I might leave it to my more handyman brother to do it when he's free.

very nice video :) cute as heck thats for sure.

looks good man, one of the reasons i never went with hte letus flip is just cause of the light loss.

it takes beautiful pictures with sunlight coming out the wazoo, but if you cut to using 500 Watt lights because if you plugged anything else in your house or surrounding locations, it would blow the fuse box, it kind of makes it difficult to use the letus no?

Yeah, i threw a short of mine on youtube last night to see if it might hold up, and sure enough, youtube destroyed it. A lot of the images are pretty dark (takes place at night, so it's intentional) and youtube turned a few shots into a black abyss.

Anyway, great footage with the L35 FE. Looks to be pretty darn clear. And like mentioned before, cute home life. :) Summer seemed a little angry at the cone at one point, lol.

Hi Jonathan, yes I don't think I'd shoot anything with the Letus at night unless I have floodlights from my local football team stadium! nonetheless the footage from daytime is beautiful and that's a pretty good reason already. If I wanted to shoot something at night, I'd really have to just invest in some good lighting equipment but i doubt I'll be shooting anything at night anyway. I will try out a night shot test with the Letus and see what comes out of it. Stay tuned!

A Quick Note on the Spec of Dust...

Quyen did guide me through taking the Letus completely apart,
without ungluing anything I might add. Just a couple screws
and such. I cleaned the mirrors with lens cloth & compressed air.
Spot Free & Perfect!

Good Luck,
Adrian

P.S. A correction in my original post, I meant zoom is usually 90-95.
Focus usually is in the 60's. But I've read some weird numbers on here,
like Zoom 70...No way! you would see a rectangle frame in the shot!

I can get away with zoom 87-88 if the lens is upwards and not down, so that's my setup (down I have to zoom into 901-92). Focus hovers between 67-68 never over 70. the speck I mention comes into focus at 45.

I think it might depend on the adapter and the version of your DVX. My settings are usually zoom 85 and focus 95... I've shot alot with this thing. The wierd thing is... (and i dunno why) my 50mm 1.4 zoom settings are 85, and my 50mm 1.8 is 80. Whaddya know...
