Letus Extreme vs SGblade

I have an EX1. I need a 35mm adaptor. I'm on a budget. Which is better?
Letus Extreme or SGblade?

Feedback please. May the force be with you.

There's a 35 mm adapter forum about 10 spaces down on this list! That's the best place for this.

Besides, just a week ago you were complaining about the Letus. A week before that you were complaining about your camera wondering if you should sell/trade it for an EX3

Thank you for proving to all of us that you have not got a single clue on what you are talking about. & :dankk2:

Nope, I don't have the SG blade, I'm just basing my statement on how much I love my Letus... It's been a great piece of gear and has never done me wrong. Great craftsmanship and superior optics for the price... Kubalsky has a link to Philip Bloom's review of the SG blade, very informative...

In my opinion, the LEX does a great job, it's available NOW, and have it shipped to you anywhere in the world, and Hien is always coming out with upgrades to the adapter... So if you're looking for a cheap, solid workhorse of an adaptor that you can have now (shipped in a week or so), then go with the LEX ($1200USD), but the SG blade is apparently targeting the Letus Ultimate ($4500usd)

The SG is new, shipping in March, for $765 USD... that's a great price if it lives up to the hype of being able to compete with the Ultimate, but for now, it's not shipping & I'm not sure how the performance/craftsmanship is... I guess it depends if you want a DOF adapter now, or wait and see how the blade works for people...

it's SOOOO tough to directly say which is better. The Blade is only just out.

So far I have shot two things with it and it was terrific. But been using the extreme for over a year before I went all Ultimate...it's still a great adaptor, the elite is better mind...direct comparison?

Think the Elite is a better fit for the EX1 as it has awesome edge to edge with the ex1 achromat. The Blade isn't quite as good edge to edge on the ex1 BUT has the important ability to stop down all the way...

Good points Phil. I owned an extreme and got good results from it but the ability to only stop down to about 4.8 really caused problems. The extreme must have the same problem as basically its the same gubbins inside.

I would love to stretch to an Ultimate but not in this climate. The SG Blade looks very enticing, and UK made as well. No import duty to worry about and no horrible dollar conversion to sweat over ( how wonderful it was only a year ago)

I am sure that the guys at SG will be working hard and fast to sort out any problems the Blade has with the Ex1 and EX3. Letus had the exact same issue and managed to get around it, and I am sure Wayne will get it sorted as well. By the time I come to buy it will be a solved issue.

Hope to see some of yoou at Video forum next week. Can't help but thank Wayne has missed a real chance here to show off the Blade. There are thousands of buyers coming through the door and a hands on display of the Blade could have netted him a very tidy profit.

I'll be there on day one, along with the masses.
