Letus 1/3" Relay are here

Why would you want to place an adapter on the front of the "stock" HPX300 Fuji lens (which is what the original conversation was about). The size of your rig will be huge.

My point is that the stock lens is doing exactly what the relay lens is doing (projecting an image on to the sensor) so it doesn't make sense to say that the relay lense is "recording directly to the sensor" whereas the stock lens is not.

Huy Vu,

You win. For the record, I think we are both on the same side here and we're beating a dead horse!

My point to begin with was that in regard to the HPX300, I would rather a relay doing the projecting than attaching an adapter to the stock Fujinon lens.

SuthVid,
I use an HVX+Letus+Nikon setup for most of my interviews. You can see samples here: http://awakenedfilms.com/reel.html.

I very rarely use zooms with the Extreme. My favorite prime for interviews is 85mm f2.0. I also use a 50mm and 135mm. While it may not be 'kosher' according to some DPs, I use the HVX's manual zoom ring to vary slightly the focal length or do a slow push. Some say it magnifies the ground glass's grain, but I find it completely acceptable.

When shooting interviews, I can get away with pulling focus myself. This is pretty much impossible if shooting live action documentary or most narrative.

Also worth noting on the same topic as your question; mixing adaptor and bare footage works just fine. I setup a scene file that better mimics the bare look so the two match pretty well (except for the shallow DoF, of course).
